In this workshop you will be making 4 Asian Inspired Art pieces: Pop-out Card, Crane Card, Star Accordian Mini Book, and a book mark.  You will be learning various origami techniques and basic stamping.  The following materials will be used to create your Asian inspired card:  chiyogami paper, embellishments, ribbons and wax seals.

Please bring a basic tool kit and any special embellishments you might want to add to your project.

Workshop Description: In my travels I’m always on the lookout for fabulous techniques and the funkiest new way to display your art… and in this three-hour workshop we will be filling ten niches of this incredible metal vintage-style receipt holder from 7Gypsies with innovative techniques and wonderful embellishments from the new Avignon collection.  With an amazing mix of Encaustic Wax, Copic Markers and airbrushing, Pan Pastels, and Glimmer Mist, Glam and Glaze…  you will understand why I always say, ‘No Surface Is Safe’.  You will leave with an altered piece that can be adapted for home décor or memory art, and inspired by techniques that you can use ever after.

Students should bring: If you would like to incorporate any of your own photos, special mementos or trinkets into this project, please feel free to bring them along. Also, bring your scissors, embossing heat tool, 12 inch trimmer, Fabritac or Zip Dry adhesive are necessary.  An acrylic block and waterbrush are very useful as well as a Tiny Attacher stapler and Archival Ink in Jet Black.  These may be purchased from the store and I will have some to share as well.

What is so special about Copic markers?  These markers go way beyond coloring stamped images to multi-surface applications on cardstock, transparencies, fabric and more surfaces than you can imagine.  Learn about the different styles of markers, and how the markers work, without the revealing brushstrokes so often associated with marker coloring.  Unlock the secrets to choosing from the incredible 334 colors for blending and shading.  Hands-on practice using four blending techniques that build upon each other and culminate with a three page handout that is yours to keep for reference and practice.  An airbrushing demonstration will also be included as time allows.

What to bring: All materials supplied.  A notepad and pencil/pen for writing down those ‘A ha!’ or ‘so that’s what I was doing wrong!’ moments would be useful.

Glimmering Summer/Beach Album in a Tin – Featuring Tattered Angels Mixed Media Techniques & Copic Markers

You will be using the new FASTENATION FOLDERS* albums by Exclusively Heidi Swapp for Tattered Angels, along with a great tin from Prima and loads of gorgeous embellishments and trim.  In this technique-packed workshop we are going to spritz, paint and glimmer like never before with the secrets of Glimmer Mist/Glimmer Glam/Glimmer Glaze and techniques for their use revealed.  We will explore ways to add depth to your project using the newest colours of coordinating Glimmer Mist, chipboard and stencils – including the new stamps!  With these techniques you are sure to customize your project to exactly YOUR style.  Stamped images will be included for use with your Copic Markers if you like.

‘Clearly Capable’ Tropical Fling Acrylic Album, featuring Copic airbrushing.

Clear Acrylic products are all the rage and this class will show you how to not only cope with the design challenges of a clear surface - but how to make it SHINE.  We'll expose the clear surface and show you how to maximize your supplies along with ways to embellish and enhance the surface with airbrushing with Copics, ink and getting double-duty from your embellishments.  Sally Lynn will make it clear and complete in simply no time at all with techniques that you can use on all your clear projects. This technique-packed workshop will focus on Copic Marker ink and airbrushing as well as the many surfaces and techniques used to colour with them.  From layering colours on transparencies, to airbrushing on acrylic as well as colouring 'bling', stickers, flowers and chipboard, Sally Lynn will guide you through every surface to go way above and beyond stamped images to altering everything.

Learn an easy technique that can turn a simple greeting card into a pop-in and pop-out card.  Get ready for Christmas with these elegant pop-out cards.  You will be amazed at how easy it is to create these great cards.  In this workshop you will combine the brush marker, faux finish, direct to rubber, colouring, stippling and blending techniques.  You will also use scrapbooking papers, cuttlebug embosing folders and stickers.

Discover the world of Transparent Art (also known as acetate in artwork).  This is one of the hottest trends in paper crafts, scrapbooking and mixed media art.  In this workshop, learnn how to use transparent art in your cards, collage, jewellery, altered books and scrapbook pages by combining it with stamped images, painted backgrounds, transferred images, sewn, cut etc.  Turn something simple into a more sophisticated look.
