BIZZY B’S ANNUAL SECOND-HAND STAMP AND SCRAP SALE!

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Buy or sell, this is a sale you wouldn’t want to miss! Bargains galore! Save the date!

Do you have supplies that you no longer want or need?

- It’s easy as 1-2-3! Start collecting those second-hand rubber stamps, scrapbooking material (except individual papers), tools, books, and magazines that you no longer need. Pick up a vendor kit (see details below), set your prices, label your items and list them on the sheet, then drop them off at the store and we will sell them for you!

After the sale, for whatever you sell, you will receive a store credit at Bizzy B’s which can be used to purchase products! Please allow our 2nd-hand sale organizer ONE TO TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SALE to organize your items and issue your credits. You will be contacted when your items and credit information are available. Store staff will not have this information available before you are contacted by the sale organizer. After you receive your tally, you can choose to take back any unsold items or leave them with us and we will donate them to a children’s art program (you are welcome to come to the store and look over your unsold items AFTER we contact you with your totals). Please respect these guidelines to help us help you.

Are you new to stamping or scrapbooking or looking for more supplies?

- The second-hand sale is a great way to get excellent bargains on rubber stamps, scrapbooking materials, tools, books, and magazines!

Vendors: Registration fee of $5.00 is applicable. You will receive a vendor kit to sell your items. The kit includes an information letter, stickers with your assigned vendor number, and an inventory spreadsheet. Once you have priced and labelled your items, and written your list, all second-hand items can brought to Bizzy B’s until February 21, 2013. All items must be priced; otherwise, they will not be sold.

All second-hand marchandise sales are final. CASH, DEBIT, and CREDIT CARD are accepted at the sale.

Caveat to vendors: We will do our best to ensure that all items are accounted for during the sale and return the correct balance of your inventory, however Bizzy B’s staff organizing and running the sale are not responsible for any lost or stolen items during the second-hand sale.

News!

Well, while we did not attend CHA this time around, we have still been very bizzy checking new products and organizing events for you.

We had a fabulous day on Saturday as we welcomed the Stampotique girls, boys, and much more to the Hive! Thanks to everybody for helping make it such a success. Daniza showed us some funky and cute samples with Minky and she also shared a make n take with everybody.

This coming Saturday, we are looking forward to you joining us as we celebrate all things new year! Calendar, Orthodox, and even Chinese… whatever you want to observe, we are here and going to party! I think there might even be a couple of spots lefts! So if you want to come to Bizzy B’s and enjoy a full day of fun, food and frivolity, pick up the phone and give us a bell at 416-203-0433! There are only a few more sleeps. “Celebrate good times, come on!”….in my best singing voice! LOL!

Now for a couple of big announcements! Some are not happening for a while but we want you to make sure the dates are saved on your calendars nice and early!

So, announcement #1, is that we think you need to save the date for the weekend of May 11 & 12. This is when we will be hosting a wonderful weekend of classes with Kelly Purkey.

Kelly will be joining us from New York City and has been in the industry for several years. Some of you may know her from her Studio Calico work but has since branched off on her own and has her own line of stamps. For more information please check out her BLOG. We will, of course, provide you with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, we would love to hear from those of you who already know of Kelly if you have something in particular you would like to see her teach as we are still in the working stage with the classes.

For announcement #2 May is going to be a big month around here! You will probably want to save the last weekend of the month (May 31 to June 2) as well, as we welcome back the divine Ms. Dina!

Yep Dina Wakley is returning to the Hive for another round of fun! I think she may need to move into Bizzy B’s for a week as I am having a hard time deciding on all those yummy classes I have to choose from!

Announcement #3 (can you believe it? 3 in one day!!) is for you to make sure you are starting to do your New Year’s purge to get ready for our 2nd-Hand Stamp Sale. This will take place on February 23rd this year. Vendor packages will be available soon. Details are posted on our February 2013 calendar HERE.

So there you have it! Great events coming down the honey pot!! Sweet! It’s going to be a very lively and entertaining year around here and we trust you will be able to enjoy your time with us as we plan all these cool, inspirational, and creative moments for you all.

We will be keeping interest lists for both Kelly’s and Dina’s classes. So, if you think you may want to attend these classes, please give us a call and get your name on quickly. We will then contact everybody as soon as we nail down the actual classes. We are expecting these to be sold out!

Pick Of The Week is…

Paint dabbers!

These are great because they are very portable and you don’t have to worry about brushes. You can get several colours and fit them into a very small space, which is fantastic if you are taking your paints with you or if you just don’t want them to take up very much room in your crafting area. Eliminating the need for a brush also frees up more space. You don’t have brushes to wash when you’re finished, either. Clean-up is a breeze; just put the lid back on!

For those taking the Waxing Poetic II class on Sunday, November 4, Nancy has provided some updated information:

Just a reminder that that next Sunday is the morning the clocks change (fall back), just so people don’t show up an hour earlier!!! Or some 2 hours ! LOL!

Also, Nancy didn’t get a chance to mention to everyone what to bring for next class. Some items were listed in the class details, but here is the more specific list:

- a wood board (medium size 8×10 or 9×12 inches, not too large)

- background paper (3 different but similar colour/theme – see attached sample)

- one simple image (high contrast black & white image with no grey areas)

- embellishments (keeping with the same theme)

Keep it simple.

Think in thirds: one third of the canvas can be texture, one a photo/photo transfer, and the other let the paper be a feature. Add one larger element or 3 smaller ones.

ATC Night – The Dark Side

ATC Nights take place monthly at Bizzy B’s. Participants create these miniature works of art and trade them with each other. Each ATC is 2.5×3.5 inches.

Participants are on an email list and let us know when they want to trade, and then we compile a list and let everyone know how many cards to make for that month’s meeting. If you’re interested in joining in, please email us at info@bizzyb.ca

Encaustic Wax

Big thanks to Nancy Donaldson! Nancy was here on October 3rd to give a free demo about encaustic wax. She showed us her amazing encaustic art and gave a demonstration of how encaustic wax works and some of the techniques.

Nancy will be teaching hands-on classes, where you will learn about encaustic wax and create your own art pieces, on October 14 and 28, and November 4. Birds Of A Feather Journal

Come and learn how to draw and paint artsy mixed-media birds…no drawing experience required! We’ll craft a little journal with a scraped and painted background (one of my absolute favorite techniques). Then I’ll show you how to add little birdies. We’ll fill the pages with collage and quotes. Your journal will sing and soar with color!

Please bring:
- Standard crafting tool kit (scissors, paint brushes, pencil, etc.)
- White acrylic gesso
- Acrylic paint in your favorite colors.
- Paint brushes, including a small flat brush, size 4 to 6.
- Optional: Any of your favorite stamps. I will bring an large assortment for class use, but bring any that you like as well.
- Optional: Permanent Ink pads. I like Ranger Archival pads because they’re permanent and stamp well on paint and ink. I will have some to share, but it might be nice for you to have your own.

Dina Wakley Additonal Class Possibility

A little birdie told me… there is a rumour that Dina is willing to teach a special class, just for us, if there is enough interest!

We have had an overwhelming response to the other classes that we posted for Dina, which filled up quickly and some have sold out already.

So, Dina is thinking of adding a class that would be a special combination of two of her classes and you would make a bird journal.

If you’re interested, please let us know ASAP so we can make arrangements to add this class.
