2nd-hand sale

Bizzy B’s Second-Hand Stamps & Stuff Sale is coming up on Saturday, February 25th!

Vendor packages will be in store soon! We hope that you are gathering up your gently-used rubber stamps, scrapbooking supplies, crafting tools, and other papercrafting goodies!

Any items are accepted, other than individual papers (we will take paper pads or groups of 10 or more papers packaged in a large baggie or other secure wrapping). Vendor packages contain price stickers for you to label your items and sheets for you to record all of your items/sets and prices.

NEW CLASS!

We have a brand new class available at Bizzy B’s this month!

Tuesday, September 20, 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Instructor: Colette Copeland

This class is about hand-stitching fabric, lace bits and pieces, and stamped images and words to create a mini art quilt.

You’ll learn how to compose and stitch the background, to stamp fabric with your favourite rubber stamps to create the focal point(s) for your quiltie, and to add beads, buttons, and paper flowers to decorate your piece. You’ll also learn how to use your rubber stamps as patterns to stitch and embroider.

If you’ve never sewn before, you’ll be surprised how easy it is; you’ll learn some basic stitches which will serve as the “glue” for your fabric pieces, and a couple of fancier stitches for decoration.

Your finished pieces can be put to many uses such as on a journal cover, a pillow top, framed, or hung from ribbons.

Students should bring the following supplies: needle, scissors, fabric scraps, thread, rubber stamps, and ink pads. Thimbles are recommended! You may also wish to bring buttons and paper flowers (they are available for purchase at Bizzy B’s if you don’t have any). Other materials are provided.

Here is a sample of a Quiltie which has been framed:

Julie Update!

OMG!  We have the classes for Julie’s weekend (September 30, October 1 & 2) and what a line up!

On the Friday we are kicking the weekend off with a brand new class that

Julie designed for us! It’s called

“Funky Art Cards”.

Julie has put a little note for us that it is recommended the table be covered and protected by newspaper or another absorbent surface!  You know what that means?  It’s going to be wonderfully messy!  7 cards in 3 hours – wow!  Wait till you see the sneak peek!

Saturday’s class will be a full day of stamping, stenciling and making your own papers into a

“Stamped & Stenciled Pocket Book”

it makes for an awesome art journal.

This is a 6 hour class plus lunch by Tony!!  Yep lunch will be included!

Sunday brings us another awesome new class by Julie called

“Painted Paper Collage”.

The first half of this class you will be creating your own papers for collage.  Apparently there will be paint flinging, doodling and so much more – sounds exciting!  The second half of the class you will be creating 2 8 x 10 canvases with your very own collage papers. Sounds great doesn’t it?

This is also a 6 hour class and, yes, lunch will again be provided by Tony!

Now, we realize this is just a few weeks out and we are limiting each class to just 20 spots so please, if you are interested in any of these classes it is very important that you get your name on the list. July Challenge

Challenge for July!

Each month, we are hosting a challenge.

All you need to do is submit a piece of artwork (card, ATC, anything goes!) to fit the theme and you will be entered to win a great prize! We will use your artwork to decorate the store. Be sure to write your name on your work so we know who to give credit to.

This month’s theme is RED AND WHITE, in honour of the Canada Day holiday.

The deadline for submissions will be Friday, July 29th.

Christmas In July was great!!!

Our Christmas In July Crop was great!!! We had DELICIOUS foods, made by Chef Tony. Home-made pizza for lunch and a full “Christmas dinner” spread for supper, including turkey, stuffing, ham, roasted potatoes, and veggies. It was all so yummy! Over the course of the day, we played games, we won prizes, we had fun, we chatted, we ate, and of course we CREATED! It was a fabulous day!

A quick reminder: today is the LAST DAY to sign up for the next Doll-A-Mania workshop, which is coming up THIS SATURDAY, June 11th. Please call the store ASAP at 416-203-0433 if you would like to attend. Don’t miss your chance to create a complete art doll while learning about colouring doll hair and other techniques. If you have not attended any of the other workshops in our Doll-A-Mania series, don’t worry! You can attend any class on its own.

DOLL-A-MANIA CONTINUES WITH FEARS AND DREAMS! – 1:00 – 4:30pm – Laura
Instructor: Laura Haviland

Join special guest instructor Laura Haviland in our next Doll-A-Mania workshop!

The goal of this workshop is to create a funky Character Constructions box doll and challenge your creative soul to think outside of the box.

We will be focusing on creating some colourful and unique art doll hair techniques. What colour hair will your art doll be styling this season, perhaps blue, purple, lime green, or red? Laura dares you to be different and design your own fashionista art paper doll… It is going to be a fun afternoon!

PLEASE NOTE: The cut off date for registration is Monday, June 6th, 2011.  If we do not have at least 8 people signed up by this time the class will be cancelled – so don’t wait! Please call the store at 416-203-0433 to reserve your space.

Workshop includes a material kit and instruction sheet.

You’ll also get a chance to win something created by Laura! Will you be the lucky winner???

Students are to bring the following:
Basic tool kit (items are available in store if you don’t have them)
- small detail scissors
- coloured art pencils – various colours, including flesh tone (Prismacolor pencils are recommended by Laura)
- Dove Blender
- ColorBox Cat’s Eye ink pads in various colours – Laura recommends Purple, Harbour, Red, Dark Brown, Orange, and Black, or you can bring your favourite colours
- 1/16 circle hole punch (Laura recommends Fiskars, and if you don’t have one, you can use Laura’s for the class, but this is a very useful tool for your personal tool kit)
- Quick-drying adhesive (Laura suggests Beacon’s quick drying glue or Tombow’s metal glue)

All other materials will be provided.

Class fee: $50.00  (taxes extra)
